Regular house cleaning in Chingford

Bathroom cleaning in Chingford

Regular cleaning in Chingford is charged per cleaner, per hour. Weekly is £23 and fortnightly is £24, with three hours as the shortest visit. You keep the same cleaner wherever the rota allows, there is no contract and no joining fee, and a skipped week for a holiday costs nothing.

FrequencyRate per cleaner, per hour
Weekly£23
Fortnightly£24

Three hours a week is £69, and three hours every other week £72. Fortnightly costs more per hour because a fortnight of dust takes longer to shift and the visit carries more work. Ironing is £12 an hour, added on top of the cleaning time so the house still gets its full three hours.

How many hours a Chingford house actually needs

More than a flat. People underestimate it on the phone, because E4 is family owner-occupier housing: two floors, a loft room in a good half of them, a downstairs loo, and a kitchen that has been pushed out into the garden at some point. Three hours a week is the common booking on a three bedroom semi and it is about right if the house is reasonably tidy when we arrive. Three hours is also the shortest regular visit we book, so on a smaller place it leaves room for the fridge shelves and the tops of the kitchen units. Four is what a five bedroom on Forest Side takes to do properly, and we would rather say that than send somebody for three and leave you disappointed.

What the visit covers

Kitchen surfaces, the sink, the hob and the fronts of the units. Bathrooms including the shower screen, which in E4 wants a squeegee and an acid-free descaler most weeks rather than once a month, because Thames Water is hard here and the scale comes back on glass faster than people expect. Floors hoovered and mopped, dusting throughout, skirtings when they need it rather than religiously every week. Beds changed if you leave the linen out. Tell us your bin day. The bins go out on the way past, along with anything for recycling that is already bagged.

Winter work in these houses

A surprising number of the 1930s houses here still have their original Crittall windows. Steel frames cold-bridge. From November the plaster reveals around them go damp and then black, worst in a bedroom where the window stays shut and somebody dries washing on the radiator. We wipe the reveals and treat the mould as part of the regular visit right through the winter. If it comes back faster than a weekly wipe can hold it, we will say so, because at that point it is a ventilation problem and no amount of cleaning fixes it.

Keys and getting in

Most of our regulars are at work when we come. They leave a key with us, or fit a key safe by the side gate, and we let ourselves in and lock up after. Nobody needs to be home. If you would rather be there the first time to show us what matters in your house, that is the sensible way to start, and after that most people stop bothering.

Indoors, at floor level

The visit covers the inside of the house, up to what a two-step reaches. We bring products we know and trust on your surfaces, so point out anything delicate, a marble top or an oiled oak floor, on the first visit. A load of washing in and out of the machine fits into the hours, and ironing is booked on top at £12 an hour.

Changing it, pausing it, stopping it

Ring the office. A week’s notice to change your day, none at all to skip one. If you want the house done properly before Christmas or after the decorators have gone, that is the one off deep clean, a team job from £186, and it sits alongside the weekly visit rather than replacing it. Ovens stay separate too, at £77 for a single, because the racks need a long soak and the cavity takes a couple of hours by hand. Everything is written down on the price list. We run regular rounds through Buckhurst Hill and down into Walthamstow on the same days we work Chingford, and the front page has the rest of it.

Questions we get asked

How much is a regular cleaner in Chingford?

£23 per cleaner per hour for a weekly visit and £24 for fortnightly, with three hours as the shortest visit. A three hour weekly clean is £69, and skipping a week for a holiday is fine.

Do I get the same cleaner every time?

Yes, wherever the rota allows it. Somebody who has cleaned your kitchen twenty times is quicker and better at it than a stranger, so we hold rounds together on purpose. Holiday cover is the exception and we tell you in advance when it happens.

How many hours does a three bedroom house need?

Three hours a week is the usual booking for a three bedroom semi in Chingford, and that assumes the house is tidy rather than needing clearing first. A loft conversion or a rear extension pushes it towards four.

Is there a contract?

No. Book weekly or fortnightly, change the day with a week’s notice, stop whenever you like. We would rather keep customers because they want to stay.

Do you bring your own equipment?

For a regular booking we normally use yours, which is what most people prefer since the vacuum lives in the house anyway. If you would rather we brought everything, say so when you book and we will.
